Lucky Peach

A film about ultratrail running, friendship, and carrying on after failure.

Friends Magdalena Kalus and Susi Lehmann are passionate ultra-trail runners and live not far from each other in the Bavarian mountains. Together, they take on their biggest sporting challenge yet: the long-distance Eiger Ultra Trail.

As a team, they want to tackle 250 kilometers and 20,000 meters of elevation gain around the Eiger-Aletsch massif—nonstop, with a 100-hour time limit. Starting in Grindelwald, they repeatedly push up against their limits. Physical issues, mental lows, and unpredictable obstacles put their plan to the test early on.

After 186 kilometers of ups and downs, the two have to drop out of the race. A failure that hurts—and at the same time becomes the starting point for something new.

Lucky Peach is a film about ultratrail running, about losing and winning, about friendship and perseverance. And about the question of what remains when a big goal seems out of reach. An honest story about carrying on—and the small moments of happiness that happen along the way.
